Radio Maranatha!

Picture taken from the top of the "Radio Maranatha" tower of Jorge & Mike
Radio Maranatha is a dream come true. As far back as 18 years ago, I wondered what it would take to get a Christian Radio Station on the air here in Mexico. Well, back then it would have taken nothing short of an act of God. Three years ago, He did just what it took. I was approached by the formidable team of Bill & Mike Gaude, the father and son team who through many efforts have helped to establish communications in many different countries over the last several years. An AM transmitter had been donated to them and they were wondering if I might want to start a radio station? Hmmmm, you bet! So was born "Radio Maranatha" La Voz de Esperanza". (The Voice of Hope) Now we are transmitting from another donated transmitter that Grady helped us get and again the Gaude tag team restored and installed after Jim Madison & his wife Mary drove all the way down from the states to deliver. This is a 1000 watt radio station with better coverage and a much clearer signal. It also increased our electrical bill proportionally but it's worth ever peso! The Chief of Police in Alamos, is a brother. He listens to the station everywhere he goes in the patrol car and he goes to a LOT of places. He is letting us know about the coverage we are getting and how many people are listening to the station. His only complaint is that we shut the station down at 10:PM!
After almost three years of being on the air, it looks like
the Lord has done yet another mighty miracle in actually changing the laws in
Mexico so that Christian radio can now be broadcasted exclusively on the
airwaves in Mexico. Before it was zero, then it was limited to buying space on
secular stations and now it looks like it might be opening wide for 100%
Christian Radio! So, thank you all for your continued prayers. Don't stop now,
there is much more on the horizon!
Temoris, Chihuahua
We are now praying for the opportunity to put a repeater station in Temoris. This is a place that takes 10 to 12 hours to travel to, but is only about 40 miles or less, as the airwaves fly. Temoris is a small town with a small Christian population and no radio, secular or Christian. There are many people in our area that aren't yet Christians, that listen all the time to "Radio Maranatha". So we are hoping that in this area of such great need, that everyone will want to listen to the only radio station that will be available to them. So, please keep us in your prayers. The radio is such a good medium for reaching the lost and for building up the found. God bless you all!
