Hermana Tomasa
Tomasa with Lety & Ana
One of the most incredible things that I have had the pleasure
to experience in my 28 years with the Lord Jesus Christ, is that no matter what
your limitations are, if you are seeking the Lord and asking to be used by Him,
you will bear fruit. Point in case, "Tomasa". Tomasa is the mother of
the most active and fruitful Christians in our fellowship. These have all been
through the "fire" with their mother's ailments. An extremely active
and hard working woman, Tomasa was struck down about 14 years ago with crippling
arthritis. Reduced to having to be cared for and carried around by her
daughters. Tomasa's life was in a shambles. Her attractive husband never seemed
to grow up which further complicated the families lives as they took on this
newest hardship. As the scriptures teach us in 1 Peter 1, their faith, having
been tried as through fire, has proven to be more precious than gold!
Tomasa passed away in January of 2003. She is now with the Savior in whom she
had placed her trust and confidence. The point of my writing this is to tell you
of the legacy that this woman has left behind. Tomasa believed. She wasn't a
"prayer warrior", but she prayed; she wasn't an evangelist, but she
evangelized; she couldn't even hold up her arm to wave, without the help of her
other arm to sustain her. Tomasa just simply believed. Her belief in the face of
her angry daughters, angry because Tomasa was abandoning her idols, was met
with a calm assurance that she was simply going to believe what the Bible said.
Ana & Flora would witness to her and share the Word of God while her
daughters would seethe inside with growing resentment to these women who would
dare to challenge their faith.
There are now six daughters of hers wondering why it is that everyone doesn't
love Jesus! They can't understand how they could have been so blind and how
everyone can't see what it means to truly know and love Jesus Christ!
So, Tomasa is gone, but even though she never was able to be anything
"great" for the Lord, the Lord has done "great things"
through her!
No matter who you are, no matter what your circumstances, you too can do great
things for the Lord. All you have to do is want to do them. All God asks of us is
that we ask of Him; all God asks of us is that we trust in Him and allow Him to
work in and through us. There is a tremendous harvest of souls as a result of
Tomasa simply believing. Because of her so many others have been brought into
the kingdom. She didn't talk to them, most of them don't even know of her. But
she was a seed that God used to produce a hundred fold. You too can be a seed
that produces much fruit. Simply believe and while believing, love the Lord with
all your heart . He will do the rest!
